‘Warming up’ cars stolen from driveways

Two vehicles being warmed up in their driveways were stolen during a 45-minute stretch this morning from homes located in northwest Vancouver, according to emergency police and fire scanners monitored at The Columbian.

A tan Toyota Camry was taken from a home in the 16200 block of N.E. 90th St. at about 6:35 a.m. A white Lincoln Navigator was taken about 45 minutes later from a home in the 7700 block of N.E. 156th Avenue.

It’s the second time in less than a week two cars being warmed were stolen in the early morning hours.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

“These are pretty regular occurrences,” sheriff’s spokesman Scott Schanaker said last week.

Schanaker cautioned against leaving an unattended car running.

“You really are taking a risk if you leave your car running while you’re in the house,” Schanaker said.
