Law enforcement officials have identified a suspect in a Dec. 30 shooting at the Bi-Lo Market in Hazel Dell.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday released a bulletin saying that an arrest warrant has been issued for Jose “Nica” Gasteazoro-Paniagua, 32, of Vancouver.

Gasteazoro-Paniagua is accused of attempted murder for allegedly shooting Jose Guadalupe Muro, 29, of Vancouver several times with a .45-caliber handgun . The two men knew each other, according to the bulletin.

Muro is an employee at Bi-Lo, 8725 N.E. Highway 99, but robbery is not thought to be a motive in the shooting, investigators have said.

Investigators believe Gasteazoro-Paniagua has fled to either the Las Vegas area or to Redding, Calif. He is possibly driving a silver 2003 4-door, Dodge Stratus with the Washington license plate 280 ZEX.

Gasteazoro-Paniagua is described as 5-foot-7, 180 pounds with multiple tattoos. He has had advanced boxing training, is believed to still have the handgun and should be considered dangerous, the bulletin said.

Anyone with information about Gasteazoro-Paniagua whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 1-877-CRIME11.
