Clark County’s Top 2010 Construction Projects

West Vancouver Freight Access project

• Scope: The Port of Vancouver’s 27-mile rail project to expand access to port property, eliminate rail yard congestion and aid waterfront development.

County’s 2010 construction outlook

• Cost: $137 million.

• Location: West and northwest from downtown Vancouver to former Alcoa/Evergreen smelter site.

• Developer: Port of Vancouver.

• Timeline: Construction of a $14.2 million rail loop at Terminal 5 this year, with additional work continuing through 2017.

Washington State University Vancouver

• Scope: Applied Technology Classroom building.

• Size: 56,000-square-foot, four-story building to house the university’s new undergraduate electrical engineering program.

• Cost: $43.5 million.

• Location: On the north end of the 300-acre WSUV campus, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver.

• Developer: Washington State University.

• Timeline: Expected to open for 2011 fall classes.

WinCo Foods at Bowyer Marketplace

• Scope: A 94,000-square-foot store will be the Boise-based supermarket chain’s fourth Clark County location.

• Cost: Unknown.

• Location: Northwest of Northeast 119th Street at Northeast 117th Avenue (state Highway 503).

• Developer: WinCo Foods.

• Timeline: Expected April opening.

Bowyer Marketplace

• Scope: A 10-building retail complex on a 19-acre Brush Prairie site that would include a sit-down restaurant, two drive-through fast-food outlets, two banks and four buildings with shops to join the WinCo Foods now under construction.

• Cost: $40 million.

• Location: Northwest corner of Northeast 119th Street at 117th Avenue.

• Developer: Killian Pacific.

• Timeline: WinCo will open in the spring with surrounding construction expected to start this year.

Fort Vancouver Regional Library Main branch

• Scope: A five-story library building that will include an early learning center, administrative offices, a roof garden and a glass-enhanced exterior.

• Cost: $38 million.

• Location: Southwest corner of Evergreen Boulevard and C Street in downtown Vancouver.

• Developer: Fort Vancouver Regional Library.

• Timeline: Completion scheduled for 2011.

Fisher Investments office complex

• Scope: A campus with two six-story office buildings and parking for more than 1,000 vehicles that could become world headquarters for the multibillion dollar California-based investment firm.

• Cost: $30 million.

• Location: A 150-acre tract on the south side of Southeast 20th Street, east of 192nd Avenue in Camas.

• Developer: Fisher Investments.

• Timeline: Site clearing and road work under way; office construction to start in mid 2010.

Armed Forces Reserve Center

• Scope: A training center for the Army Reserve and Washington Army National Guard, with offices, classrooms, storage buildings, a maintenance shop for military rigs and parking for 276 vehicles.

• Cost: $24 million.

• Location: On 18.5 acres on the south side of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard between 147th and 152nd avenues.

• Developer: U.S. Army.

• Timeline: Set to break ground in 2010 and open in 2011.

Woodland Walmart

• Scope: A 150,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter.

• Cost: Estimated at $15 million to $25 million.

• Location: An 18.5-acre site northwest of Interstate 5 at Exit 22 in Woodland.

• Developer: Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

• Timeline: Expected to open in October or November.

Costco

• Scope: A 154,700-square-foot warehouse store, fueling center with eight islands, two adjacent retail buildings and 745 parking spaces.

• Cost: Unknown.

• Location: A 17.5-acre site at 113 N.E. 192nd Ave., in east Vancouver.

• Developer: Costco.

• Timeline: Expected 2010 groundbreaking.

Hayes Freedom High School

• Scope: A standalone alternative high school.

• Cost: $5.4 million.

• Location: 1919 N.E. Ione St., Camas.

• Developer: Camas School District.

• Timeline: Opening for 2010 fall classes.
