Free training offered for recyclers, composters

Free volunteer training will be offered beginning in early February for the Master Composter/Recycler Program.

The program, based at the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center in Vancouver, is accepting applications for the weekly training course, which starts Feb. 4 and wraps up April 1. The training will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday.

The training includes backyard composting, composting with worms, green building, waste reduction and recycling. Space is limited and pre-registration is required

Volunteers contribute 30 hours over the course of the following year in exchange for the free training.
