KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says a school bus hit a deer on a highway near Burbank, and a student who bumped her head in the crash was taken to a Pasco hospital as a precaution.

Trooper Doug Lux says the 14-year-old girl was expected to be OK. The driver and five other students on the bus were not injured in the collision about 7 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 124, about 5 miles east of Burbank.

The driver said it was dark and foggy when the bus hit the deer. The bus didn’t leave the highway and was not damaged. The bus is operated by an orchard for the children of farmworkers.

The deer was killed by the impact.
