EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Snohomish County officials are trying to identify human remains found in a burned-out car belonging to a missing Everett woman.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said late Friday that the car found Thursday has been confirmed to be a 1989 Nissan Sentra belonging to Sherry Harlan.

The county medical examiner’s office is working to identify the body.

Detectives believe Harlan was killed. On Thursday, they arrested her former boyfriend, 40-year-old Eric Christensen of Gold Bar, for investigation of murder.

Harlan’s co-workers called 911 on Tuesday night after she missed several shifts.

A search of Harlan’s apartment showed evidence of an attempt to clean it up, with portions of vinyl and carpet cut out and removed.
