SEQUIM, Wash. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says two people have died in a small plane crash near the Sequim Valley Airport.

FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer said both people aboard the single-engine Van’s RV8 — a kit-built plane — were killed Friday afternoon. One person was a man but Kenitzer said he did not have additional information on those aboard.

The Clallam County sheriff’s office and the FAA responded. The plane lay crumpled in a field behind a house.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Borte says the pilot was apparently performing “touch and go” maneuvers. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

Jim Parker lives near the crash scene. He told the Peninsula Daily News he heard a loud crash then went outside to see that the aircraft had hit the muddy field nose first.
