EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A Eugene drug dealer who survived a throat-slashing attack took the stand against one of the men accused of trying to kill him.
The victim told jurors that masked intruders held him upside down and slit his throat before leaving him for dead. He said he felt a sense of tranquility after the first cut, even as he could feel the blood flow down the side of his inverted face.
The man testified that the intruders demanded a stash of cash and tortured him to get. The dealer, however, said he kept his money in the bank.
Prosecutors say 27-year-old Shawn Monro teamed with two other men in the 2006 attack.
Under questioning by Monro’s defense attorney, the victim acknowledged never seeing the faces of the men who cut his throat.
