PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Fairview Police arrested a registered sex offender accused of sexually abusing a girl under age 14.
Authorities say 72-year-old George Franklin Hamel is an amateur photographer who frequents the Oregon Zoo and photographs children there. He allegedly asks families for addresses to send them photos in the hopes of getting further access to children.
Hamel was lodged in a Multnomah County jail on a charge of first-degree sex abuse.
