Hudson's Bay student expelled for bringing knife to school
Friday, January 8, 2010
A Hudson’s Bay High School student was expelled this morning when school officials found a knife in his backpack.
The incident is the third instance of a student expelled for bringing a weapon to campus since early November.
Kris Sork, a Vancouver Public Schools spokeswoman, said the student was “emergency expelled” after the school found the knife.
It is unclear if the boy displayed it to other students.
The incident comes a day after a Pacific Middle School student was lodged in the Clark County Juvenile Detention Hall for packing his father’s unloaded Glock 9-mm in his backpack.
On Nov. 5, a student at Battle Ground’s Daybreak Middle School toted a loaded .22-caliber handgun to school that was reportedly brought by the boy’s friend. Both were expelled from the school and barred from any Battle Ground school district property for one year.
