HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) -- A Las Vegas Strip procession and color guard honors are set for a veteran court security officer killed in a shootout with a shotgun-wielding assailant at a downtown Las Vegas federal building.
Las Vegas police say more than 2,000 family members, friends, elected officials, judges, and law enforcers are expected for the 1 p.m. Monday ceremony for 72-year-old Stanley Cooper.
A Southern Nevada Multi-Agency Law Enforcement honor guard will serve at the funeral at Central Christian Church in Henderson.
Cooper was a federal court security officer for 15 years, after 26 years as a Las Vegas police officer and sergeant.
He mortally wounded by a shotgun blast fired Jan. 4 by a disgruntled Social Security recipient who also wounded a federal marshal before he was killed.
