GIG HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — Police have found a missing baby boy in a wooded area of the Key Peninsula near Gig Harbor, and are searching for the boy’s father.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reports that the 11-month old boy appears to be fine, and Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says he is being taken for a medical evaluation.
Authorities say the baby’s father allegedly took the boy from a home Tuesday morning after choking the child’s mother. They are looking for 23-year-old Justin Smith, a Marine drill instructor who is believed to be armed.
