MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. (AP) — Police arrested a Glendale angler on outstanding warrants after he fled from an officer who asked for his license and tag.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Dallas Ware threw his fishing pole into the South Umpqua River shortly before an officer approached Tuesday. When asked for the license and tag, the man allegedly took off on foot after first saying he left the information in his truck.
Police discovered Ware had three warrants for his arrest and was on probation.
Ware was found hiding in berry vines after a two-hour search conducted by sheriff’s deputies, Myrtle Creek officers and a private citizen in a helicopter.
Aside from the warrants, Ware now faces additional charges of escape, tampering with evidence, fishing without an angler’s license and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
