JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli Foreign Ministry says an explosive charge has gone off near a convoy of cars from the Israeli Embassy in Jordan in an apparent attempt to harm diplomats. No one was hurt. The Israeli statement did not say if the ambassador was in the convoy.

The incident occurred at sundown Thursday. Israel gave no further details.

There have been several attempts to hit Israeli diplomats in Jordan in past years.

Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994. Relations have become cool in recent years as the Israel-Palestinian conflict drags on without a solution. A significant portion of Jordan’s population is made up of Palestinians.
