COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A judge says Coeur d’Alene’s contract with a company to upgrade a wastewater treatment plant is legal, clearing the way for the stimulus-funded project to move forward.

The Coeur d’Alene Press reports 1st District Judge John Luster made the decision Wednesday, saying that Contractors Northwest Inc.’s bid was responsible and complied with state law.

Record Steel and Construction Inc. sued, contending the contract was illegal because one of Contractor Northwest Inc.’s subcontractors wasn’t licensed when the bid was submitted.

Luster agreed to expedite the hearing because Coeur d’Alene needed to have the contract by Feb. 17 in order to qualify for the $13 million stimulus loan.
