Union was on target.

Columbia River, not so much.

The result was a 69-58 win for the visiting Titans in a Class 3A Greater St. Helens League boys basketball game on Thursday.

Chris Morgan scored 26 points for Union (7-5, 2-0 GSHL), which built a 10-point halftime lead and survived River’s second-half push.

The Chieftains (7-5, 0-2) had one 3-point shot for a tie in the third quarter that missed.

A tough night from the free-throw line hampered Columbia River’s attempt to rally. The Chieftains were 8 for 19 from the stripe.

Kramer Ramberg scored 18 for River, and Gunnar Wall 16.

“We played well. We just didn’t shoot well,” Chieftains coach David Long said. “They (the Titans) played very well. We needed two or three more 3s to fall, and we needed to make more free throws.”

Kyle Holmes added 12 points for Union, which had 10 players score.

Hudson’s Bay 60, Prairie 58 — Ingo Arrozal made two free throws inside of 20 second to play to break at 58-58 tie and get Bay the victory.

T.J. Williams had tied the game for Prairie with a 3-pointer prior to the free throws. Prairie (4-8, 0-2) didn’t get a good shot off on its last possession.

Gabe Foster scored 16, Tra Ponder 15 and Derrick Brooks 11 for Bay (9-3, 1-1).

Adam Herman led Prairie in scoring with 29.

Skyview 59, Evergreen 58 — The visiting Storm survived a Plainsmen rally to improve to 3-0 in the Class 4A GSHL.

Skyview (7-5) led by 12 at halftime and never trailed in the second half, though Evergreen (4-9, 1-2) had a shot at a tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

Tyler Paluck’s 13 points led the Storm, and Blake Bowen added 12 including two free throws with eight seconds remaining to put Skyview ahead by three points.

Stefan Foulstone and Richie Townsend each scored 15 for Evergreen. Foulstone had a shot for the lead with 10 seconds left that popped out.

Mountain View 57, Battle Ground 52 — The Thunder came away with a close victory after losing its first two league game by close scores.

Andrew White (18 points), Dominique Lincoln (15) and Lucas Swanson (15) took turns making shots when Mountain View needed it, and the Thunder (7-6, 1-2) made defensive stops in the end.

Kelso 61, Heritage 53 (OT) — The host Hilanders scored 15 points in overtime to win after the Timberwolves’ Jeff Parrish hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Parrish led three players in double figures for Heritage (3-10, 1-2) with 13 points.

Washougal 59, Woodland 55 — T.C. White scored 14 points and Jeremy Ewing had 12 helped pace Washougal (7-3, 2-0) to their second 2A GSHL victory. Jeff Corona added 10 points.
