PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The body of a Portland man was found in a sinkhole in his back yard after a friend called police to say she had not heard from him.
Officials said the body of 57-year-old Michael Zerwas was found partially submerged in water in a hole about 25 feet deep.
Police said they were called on Sunday by a woman in Iowa who said she had not heard from Zerwas since Thursday.
The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that police went to the house on Sunday and searched the back yard after finding the front door locked.
