BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Twin Falls man accused of causing an accident that killed a Hailey woman has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter.

Twenty-eight-year-old Cody William Stevens pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge. He was originally charged with felony vehicular manslaughter. The Idaho Mountain Express reports prosecutors agreed to reduce the charge after tests showed Stevens was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police say Stevens’ truck swerved into oncoming traffic on state Highway 75 in March, causing the vehicle driven by 53-year-old Bertilia Lyn Redfern to collide with another vehicle.

Police initially said Stevens was involved with three other accidents on the same day, but he has not been charged in those. He faces up to a year in jail and up to a $2,000 fine. No sentencing date has been scheduled.
