Seven Clark County sites featured in National Geographic guide
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Washington and Oregon share billing in a new bi-state National Geographic tourism map unveiled Tuesday in Portland.
The National Geographic Geotourism MapGuide highlights destinations spanning the Central Cascades and Oregon’s Crater Lake to Mount Rainier. It features seven points of interest in Clark County.
The National Geographic Society's Center for Sustainable Destinations along with Washington State Tourism and Travel Oregon spent more than two years collaborating on the map.
The map’s more than 200 points of interest were intended to include cultural, recreational, agricultural, natural and geological attractions and activities that promote sustainable travel throughout the Central Cascades, according to a press release.
The Central Cascades MapGuide will be available in the West Coast edition of the May/June issue of National Geographic Traveler magazine.
