SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed when the small plane they were in crashed in suburban Chicago.

Kane County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Pat Gengler says debris from the twin-engine Piper Aerostar hit a garage at a house in Sugar Grove when the plane crashed Saturday. No one inside the home was hurt.

Gengler says the plane had taken off from the Aurora airport, just a couple miles south of the crash scene. He says it was on its way to Denver.

Authorities have not yet released the victims’ names. Gengler says both of the deceased were men.

Officials do not yet know what caused the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
