MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Police say a Medford couple who operate a foster care home have been accused of pressuring an elderly woman to pay more than $100,000 for odd jobs.

Police say a bank teller worried about the size of the checks the couple cashed for little jobs and tipped off authorities.

The suspects are 35-year-old Mineretta Viliamu and her husband, 41-year-old Saolotoga Viliamu.

They are accused of theft and criminal mistreatment.

State officials say a substitute will provide care for the three people at their foster home, and another licensed provider will oversee the work.

Police say the victim lived in her own home, and the couple had cared for her husband before he died.
