SAND POINT, Alaska (AP) — The bodies of two pilots whose plane crashed Friday near Sand Point have been found.

State police spokeswoman Megan Peters says the wreckage of the ACE Air Beechcraft 1900C was found off Sand Point Sunday and divers were able to identify the bodies of Ameer Ali and Emily Lewis.

The Coast Guard says the aircraft crashed early shortly after takeoff from the Sand Point airport. The plane had been bound for Anchorage with a load of fish and mail.

A spokeswoman for the Lewis family says Emily Lewis grew up in the Seattle area and was engaged to be married this year. Ellie Materi says the family would like people to know that Lewis “was a funny, sweet wonderful person who always loved flying.”

The 28-year-old Ali grew up in New York and came to Alaska after serving as a flight mechanic in the Marines.
