KABUL (AP) — Police say 11 suspected Taliban militants, including two senior commanders, have been killed in an air and ground assault by NATO-Afghan forces in northern Afghanistan.

Gen. Kabir Andarabi, the police chief for Baghlan province, says Wednesday’s joint operation was targeting a Taliban compound west of the provincial capital of Pul-e-Khumri.

He says no civilian casualties have been reported but a police source within the opposition confirmed 11 Taliban militants were killed.

NATO says it can’t comment on ongoing operations.
