PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — TriMet, the Portland area mass transit agency, has fired a bus driver accused of choking a passenger.

Brian Christeson was off-duty but in uniform Dec. 30 when he scuffled with 57-year-old Ludwig Lipscomb on a bus.

TriMet spokeswoman Mary Fetsch told The Oregonian newspaper Tuesday that the decision to fire the 53-year-old driver was made after reviewing a video tape of the altercation and interviewing Christeson, Lipscomb and others on the bus.

TriMet hired Christeson in 1994.
