State troopers said several people were taken to hospitals Tuesday morning after a man who allegedly drove at 100 mph to elude police lost control of a stolen car and crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 5 southbound near Woodland.

Between 9 a.m. and noon today, southbound motorists will experience rolling slowdowns and delays on I-5 near Woodland as troopers continue a detailed investigation of the crash, according to a bulletin from the state Department of Transportation.

The driver of the stolen black 2005 Toyota Camry, Benjamin G. Robinson, 19, hometown unknown, was taken to St. John Medical Center in Longview. He’s to be jailed on suspicion of several offenses including attempting to elude police, possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing marijuana and DUI, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

The driver of a 2002 Cadillac Escalade the Camry hit, Alejandra Lopez, 30, and some passengers were taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

About 9 a.m. Tuesday, several motorists told emergency dispatchers that the Camry was traveling southbound on I-5 at high speed near Castle Rock.

A trooper saw the speeding Camry near Longview, called in its license plate number and learned it had been stolen in the Seattle area earlier Tuesday morning, the bulletin said.

Pursuing officers said Robinson refused to pull over and sped up to 100 mph or more. About 9:15 a.m., Robinson lost control and hit the Cadillac just south of Woodland, the bulletin said.
