RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Pend Oreille County Public Utility District has joined Energy Northwest, the Richland-based consortium that operates the state’s only commercial nuclear power plant.

The board of Energy Northwest approved the addition this week.

The new member brings Energy Northwest membership to 28, including 23 public utility districts and five city utilities. That’s the largest membership in the almost 53-year history of the organization, which provides low-cost power for its publicly owned utility members.
