MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Candis Donicht, Idaho’s School Superintendent of the Year for 2009, says she will retire in July.
Donicht made the surprise announcement at a meeting of the Moscow School District’s governing board on Tuesday after applauding the work of staff, students and the community.
Donicht, who did not give a reason behind her unexpected retirement, was superintendent of Salmon public schools for more than a decade before she was tapped in 2002 to head the Moscow School District.
She is scheduled to accept the Idaho School Superintendents Association’s highest honor, School Superintendent of the Year, at a ceremony in February.
