STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — The wife of an attorney who worked in both Bush administrations has filed a $30 million lawsuit against her husband for an alleged attack at their Connecticut home.
Police say 57-year-old John Michael Farren beat and strangled 43-year-old Mary Farren at their New Canaan home on Jan. 6, two days after she filed divorce papers. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges, and is being held on $2 million bond.
The lawsuit filed in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 20 says Mary Farren can’t work because of her injuries and may lose income if her husband goes to prison.
John Michael Farren’s lawyer declined to comment.
He was deputy White House counsel for President George W. Bush and undersecretary for international trade under President George H.W. Bush.
