PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A South Carolina man who is one 13 people indicted in the financial collapse of an Oregon developer has pleaded guilty to bank fraud.

Michael A. Wilson of Murrells Inlet, S.C., joined Desert Sun Development in Bend as a construction superintendent three years ago.

Federal prosecutors said the 58-year-old Wilson obtained two loans in his wife’s name in 2007 to buy one of the high-end houses built by the company.

Prosecutors said Wilson signed one letter as his wife that falsely claimed a $47,000 deposit was a bonus from the developer. He then signed a loan application on behalf of his wife, falsely claiming she had worked for the developer for two years, earning $15,000 per month.

Wilson later defaulted on a $500,000 loan, resulting in a $360,000 loss. Sentencing was set for June 28 in U.S. District Court in Eugene.
