Freshman Makayla Douglas captured the Class 4A district bowling title in dominant fashion Friday while leading the Heritage girls to the team title at Crosley Lanes.

Douglas had a three-game total of 708 to easily outdistance teammate Andrea Vanek (589) for the individual honors.

Heritage’s Amanda Van Meter was fourth and Michelle Vanek was seventh as the Timberwolves rolled to a team total of 4139, easily outdistancing regular-season champion Kelso (3522).

Heritage and Kelso, which went 10-0 in the 4A Greater St. Helens League regular season, qualified to state as teams. Evergreen missed qualifying for state by 10 pins, placing third at 3513.

Four other individual bowlers also qualified for next week’s state meet in Tacoma — Nichole Hatton and Kelcee Humphrey of Mountain View and Brianna Wessa and Lindsey Quint of Battle Ground.

3A bowling — Prairie outdistanced 3A GSHL regular-season champion Mark Morris 3922-3658 to win the 3A/2A district championship and earn a trip to the state tournament.

Other Clark County bowlers who qualified for state were district runner-up Holly Naramore of Columbia River, Shelly Kanis and Sarah Dolan of Union and Lauren Lefebvre of Fort Vancouver.
