A man escaped a Ridgefield convenience store with $52 after he passed a written note to a clerk threatening to shoot and then showed off a gun tucked into his waistband, according to a news bulletin.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was described as having brown hair and wearing dark clothing. He robbed the Circle K/Union 76 gas station and convenience store, 1307 Pioneer St., at about 1 a.m. Thursday and remained at large Thursday night, an officer said.
The man entered the store shortly before 1 a.m. as the last customers left. He picked out a bottle of Gatorade and went to the register, where he handed the clerk a note saying, “Don’t do anything stupid or you will be shot,” according to the Ridgefield Police Department bulletin. The clerk gave the man cash and he took off.
Police believe he left in a car that was parked on the east side of the building.
