Authorities say they have located the abandoned car of a Utah man who has been reported missing and are starting a search of the area.

Davis County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brad Wilcox says investigators found Luciano Reynaldo Trujillo’s 1996 Subaru Legacy in Utah County west of Utah Lake near some caves early Wednesday.

Malinda Trujillo-Gonzalez says her 54-year-old father needs immediate medical care and suffers from end-stage kidney disease that requires dialysis and that he has bipolar personality disorder.

Wilcox said by phone that “medicine bottles” in the car made clear it’s Trujillo’s vehicle.

“We’ve sent a CSI unit and two detectives out,” Wilcox said. “The county sheriff in that county has sent deputies out to search the area. Hopefully we’ll hear something today.”

Trujillo lives north of Salt Lake City and told his son he was going to take a present to Trujillo-Gonzalez, his newlywed daughter, in Vancouver.

A missing and endangered person bulletin was issued for him on Tuesday.
