Palodichuk, Holt earn all-state honors

Camas soccer player Nick Palodichuk and Woodland softball player Emily Holt were selected as the state players of the year in the their classification and sport by a statewide panel of media members.

The all-state voting, as compiled by the Tri-City Herald, was released Wednesday with Palodichuk and Holt leading the way.

Palodichuk, the Gatorade state player of the year and the Parade national player of the year, was one of three Camas players who earned Class 3A first-team all-state honors. He was joined by midfielder Stuart Jergensen and defender Sean Melby.

Camas forwards Connor Valenter and Drew White earned second-team honors with Columbia River’s Steven Hughes and Spenser Beck.

Evergreen forward Septi Danciu and Heritage goalkeeper Kyle Miller were on the 4A second team, and Ridgefield midfielder Travis Heim was on the 2A first team for soccer.

Holt was the lone local player on the 2A softball all-state team after leading the Beavers to the 2A state championship.

Heritage’s Alexis Huss and Mountain View’s Paige Martin were first-team picks for Class 4A softball. Britney Sorenson of Heritage was on the second team while Mountain View’s Kylie Gaspar earned honorable mention.

Union’s Mariah Dawson and Alexis Cline, as well as Prairie’s Grace Middlestadt were 3A first-team all-state players. Union’s Kadi Henderson and Prairie’s Chelsea Creech made the second team and Prairie’s Jessi Duncan and Camas’ Erin Carson earned honorable mention.

Also, La Center’s Kiley Monson earned 1A honorable mention.

Pitchers Skye Adams of Columbia River and Taylor Williams of Camas earned spots on the 3A baseball all-state first team. Camas’ Logan Grindy and Derek Atkinson made the second team along with Union’s Leko Galusha and River’s David Anderson. Camas’ Austin Barr earned honorable mention.

Evergreen’s Tommy Thorpe was on the 4A second team, and Heritage’s Alex Foulon earned honorable mention. Hockinson’s Casey Sawyer was on the 2A first team.
