CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox have called up right-hander Daniel Hudson from Triple-A Charlotte for Sunday’s start against the Kansas City Royals in place of injured Jake Peavy.

Hudson was 1-1 in six games, including two starts, last season for the White Sox and will take Peavy’s spot in the rotation. Peavy will have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.

Hudson will be making his first start of the season for Chicago. He was 11-4 with a 3.47 ERA in 17 starts for Charlotte.

To make room for Hudson, the White Sox optioned reliever Jeff Marquez to Charlotte.
