HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The USA Basketball national women’s team is planning two exhibition games in Hartford, giving players a final tuneup before the 2010 World Championships in the Czech Republic.

The team, which includes seven former University of Connecticut players, will host Australia and Spain at the XL Center on Sept. 10 and 12. It is coached by UConn coach Geno Auriemma, who joined other USA Basketball officials Monday for the announcement in Hartford.

The 12-member U.S. team for this fall’s world championships will be picked from the team that plays in Hartford. The winner of the world tournament earns an automatic berth to the 2012 Olympics.
