EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A woman has pleaded guilty to assaulting a Eugene police officer who tried to arrest her son.

Maria Jenkins also pleaded guilty Monday to resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer during the March 13 altercation.

Though she used a wheelchair at Monday’s hearing, the 50-year-old Jenkins admits jumping on the back of officer Carissa Hartmann as Hartmann’s partner fought with the 24-year-old son.

Hartmann sustained a knee injury when taken to the ground and has filed a worker’s compensation claim.

Jenkins got credit for the months she has been in jail and will be released. The judge also sentenced her to probation.
