HAVANA (AP) — World-record hurdler Dayron Robles is pulling out of Friday’s Diamond League meet in Paris. He says his legs are sore from his victory last week in Switzerland.
Robles’ manager, Santiago Antunez, told The Associated Press on Tuesday from the Cuban’s training base in Spain that if Robles is healthy he would run in a Diamond League meet July 22 in Monaco.
Antunez said Robles will return to Cuba in late July before a meet in London on Aug. 14 and another in Zurich on Aug. 19. Robles failed to reach the 110-meter hurdles final in the world championships 11 months ago.
At last week’s Athletissima meet in Lausanne, Robles won the 110-meter hurdles in 13.01 seconds. He is the defending Olympic champion and world-record holder in that event.
