PALERMO, Italy (AP) — Defending champion Flavia Pennetta of Italy has beaten Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain 6-4, 6-2 to reach the Palermo Open semifinals.
The top-seeded Pennetta will now meet eighth-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany, who beat Jill Craybas of the U.S. 6-2, 6-4.
Wild card Romina Oprandi of Italy will take on fifth-seeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the other semifinal.
Oprandi defeated second-seeded Aravane Rezai of France 7-5, 6-0, while Kanepi beat third-seeded Sara Errani of Italy 6-2, 6-2.
