MIAMI (AP) — The teenager known as the “Barefoot Bandit” suspected in dozens of thefts and other crimes is due back in a Miami courtroom.

A Friday hearing is set for 19-year-old Colton Harris-Moore to determine if he has a lawyer, whether he deserves bail and when he will return to Seattle to face criminal charges.

Harris-Moore was sent Tuesday to Miami from the Bahamas, where he was captured after allegedly flying a stolen plane to the islands.

On the run for two years after escaping from a halfway house, he is a suspect in about 70 crimes in eight states, some he allegedly committed while shoeless. He was first arrested at age 12.

Harris-Moore is something of a folk hero to some, with his Facebook page listing more than 89,000 friends.
