COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — U.S. weightlifter Matthew Devine has accepted a two-year suspension for doping, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced.

Devine, of Colorado Springs, had an “adverse analytical finding for testosterone or its precursors,” in an out-of-competition sample taken in October 2009.

The 34-year-old Devine says his positive test stemmed from the use of “an over-the-counter supplement that I did not realize contained DHEA.”

DHEA is short for dehydroepiandrosterone, a steroids precursor on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list.

Devine’s two-year ban started on Dec. 14, 2009, when he accepted a provisional suspension.
