County homes-for-sale inventory shrinks in June

Clark County home sellers are spending less time looking for buyers, according to Portland-based RMLS listing service, which tracks real estate sales.

The county had a 6.9-month supply of homes in June, down from 7.9 months of inventory in June 2009. The number means that it would take 6.9 months to sell all of the homes on the market if no new listings were added.

Local real estate agents attribute the shrinking inventory to federal tax credit incentives available through April to first-time and move-up homebuyers. To be eligible, homebuyers had to sign a contract by April 30. Because transactions could close after signing, the tax credits were still affecting sales in June.
