OSLO, Norway (AP) — The Norwegian Athletics Federation says race walker Erik Tysse has tested positive for doping and has been suspended from all competitions.

Federation secretary general Kjetil Hildeskor says Tysse tested positive for blood booster CERA at a competition in Italy in May.

He says an analysis at a laboratory in Rome showed both the “A” and “B” samples were positive for CERA.

A tearful Tysse denied having used illegal drugs and questioned how the test had been analyzed at a news conference Tuesday in Oslo.

He said he had “nothing to hide” and would fight to clear his name.

The suspension means Tysse will miss next week’s European Championships in Barcelona.

He was fifth in the 50-kilometer race at the Beijing Olympics.
