SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Marion County jail inmate has died after suffering a head injury during a fight in the recreation yard.
The sheriff’s office said 29-year-old Robert Haws of Salem died Monday at Salem Hospital.
Deputies said Haws was one of two minimum-security inmates who were involved in a fight on July 13.
The other inmate was not identified. The Marion County district attorney’s office will review a report by investigators and decide whether to present it to a grand jury.
Haws was facing charges of delivering marijuana, attempting to elude police and recklessly endangering another person.
