Vancouver police converged on a residential neighborhood centered around East Mill Plain Boulevard and U Street, not far from Hudson’s Bay High School, early Tuesday afternoon in search of a burglary suspect.

The burglary was reported in the 2600 block of T Street, just north of East Fourth Plain Boulevard, about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Officers soon developed information about a suspect who might be in the 900 block of Grace Street, off Mill Plain near U Street, said Officer Ilia Botvinnik with the Vancouver Police Department.

After a short foot chase and deployment of a tracking dog, the suspect was caught in a home, Botvinnik said.

Police asked The Columbian not to publish the man’s name because of their investigation.

Tuesday night, the man was in custody in the Clark County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary and also for previously issued arrest warrants charging fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest, a jail employee said.
