TOUTLE, Wash. (AP) — The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office says a 24-year-old Silver Lake man drowned Saturday afternoon in Toutle while swimming across the Toutle River in southwest Washington.
The department says Jordan Connors swam about 40 yards across the river from the north and when he reached the south side, grabbed for the rocks but went under and did not resurface.
Divers found the body in about 20 feet of water.
Toxicology reports are pending.
