MILWAUKEE (AP) — Brewers outfielder Jim Edmonds is out of the lineup against the Washington Nationals, leaving Milwaukee without a reserve outfielder.

Edmonds homered in Saturday night’s 4-3 victory, but his right Achilles’ tendon stiffened up and he left after the sixth. All-Star right fielder Corey Hart is still out of the lineup after sliding into a concrete wall attempting a catch on Friday night.

Manager Ken Macha says Hart is available to pinch run and hopes he’ll return to the lineup during the next series against Cincinnati. Edmonds also could pinch hit, but neither can play the field.

If Ryan Braun, Joe Inglett or Carlos Gomez gets hurt, Macha says he’ll move shortstop Alcides Escobar to the outfield and bring in veteran Craig Counsell.
