DUNDEE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say more than 1,000 bottles of wine spilled onto a road near Dundee, Ore., southwest of Portland after two big rigs collided Tuesday afternoon. Highway 99W was closed for several hours while Oregon Department of Transportation crews worked to clean up the mess.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says a commercial truck hauling the bottles of wine was northbound on Highway 18 trying to turn onto northbound Highway 99W when it collided with another truck. The wine truck overturned and its rear trailer opened, spilling hundreds of boxes of wine bottles.

The truck drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say transportation workers have gathered several dump truck loads of broken and damaged wine bottles.

There was no immediate word on the wine manufacturer or type of wine.
