TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda says he is leaving the national team.
Rueda says he regrets not be able to take the squad beyond the first round in the recent World Cup in South Africa.
The Colombian-born coach is a naturalized Honduran citizen. He says he “is leaving by the front door, so as not to cause disunity” in Honduras.
Rueda was tearful Wednesday as he announced his departure, saying “I now have no tie to Honduras, I have no contract with Honduras.”
