COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) — City councilors in Cottage Grove are taking steps to assist a resort and restore a historic building.
Councilors on Monday voted to back a $250,000 loan to the Village Green Resort. Owners have also obtained $250,000 in private financing.
The combined amount will allow owners to renovate almost two-thirds of the resort’s rooms with the aim of boosting occupancy and attracting more visitors to the community.
Councilors also voted to buy the city’s armory building from the state for $395,000.
City Manager Richard Meyers tells the Eugene Register-Guard that the city hopes to secure enough money in grants to eventually restore the 1931 building to its former glory.
