Papa Murphy’s International take-and-bake pizza chain was one of the 10 fastest-growing restaurant franchises in the U.S. in 2009, according to Nation’s Restaurant News, an industry publication. It outpaced all pizza-industry competition in new-store growth and U.S. systemwide sales.
Other fast-growing chains included Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Jack in the Box and Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar.
“We signed over 130 franchise agreements last year,” said John Barr, Papa Murphy’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Papa Murphy’s is the fifth-largest pizza chain in the country, with more than 1,200 franchised and corporate-owned locations in 36 states and Canada.
